Residency Program
We are excited to train the next generation of veterinary neurologists. Our program is supported by 8 faculty with a broad range of clinical and research interests. Residents have a heavy caseload of neurological cases, consisting of both stable appointments for elective workups and surgery as well as emergency cases, seen 24/7/365. Residents work closely with faculty at all times and grow their skillset and responsibilities over the 3 year program. Through our rich and diverse caseload, residents gain experience with a range of procedures including cerebrospinal fluid collection, joint taps, muscle and nerve biopsy and electrodiagnostics. They are also trained on the fundamentals of neurosurgery using models, cadavers and live patients, to build their surgical skills. Residents are also exposed to and assist in specialized neurosurgeries and clinical trials.
Research is an integral part of our training program. Residents take on primary research projects, closely mentored by faculty and learn how to design and execute clinical and benchtop research, helping advance our field.
Our residents are also heavily involved in clinical teaching of veterinary students on clinics and in preclinical labs. They are an integral part of our teaching mission and are well regarded by the student body.
