Our Veterinary Genetics Laboratory works diligently to identify genetic diseases and predisposing genetic factors that cause neurological diseases in our patients. Recent major discoveries include the genetic basis of intervertebral disc disease in dogs, and association of facial conformation (brachycephaly – ‘short-nosed’ dogs) with the development of a specific brain tumor (gliomas).
